The eagerly awaited international data release of the ISSP module on Digital Societies is now available, providing ISSP data on this topic for the first time.

The ISSP 2024 “Digital Societies I” dataset (ZA10020, v1.0.0) includes data from 27 ISSP member countries:

Australia, Austria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Lithuania, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States.

The new module provides comparative data on how people use, experience, and evaluate digital technologies and the digital transformation. It covers attitudes towards technology; access to and use of the Internet and digital technologies; digital skills and self-efficacy; the effects of digitalization on communication and media consumption; civic engagement in the digital age; and the perceived benefits and costs of digitalization. It also includes questions on data protection and privacy, government surveillance, and attitudes towards robots and artificial intelligence (AI).
